Anthony of Padua, St. Sebastian and St. Roch Intercede for the Victims of the Plague

1529-73
Fresco
Church of St. Roch, Draguč, Croatia

At the prayer of the two kneeling saints, God sheathes his sword and the angel in black folds his hands in prayer. Piled in a heap between the saints are the many whom the plague has taken, including a king in his crown and a pope in his triple tiara.

As usual St. Sebastian is shown as a young man with arrows in his nearly naked body, and St. Roch as a pilgrim with a lesion in his right thigh.
